How to Throw the Best Oktoberfest Party
We've put together the ultimate checklist for a guaranteed stomper of an Oktoberfest Party!
1. Hats
Traditional Tyrolean hats are the perfect addition for your party. Why not try putting one at every seat so all of your guests can get involved in the fun? They're a sure fire way to make everyone feel included and part of the fun.
2. Steins
Whats better than a pint? 2 pints! Stein glasses, glass or plastic, are a great Oktoberfest party piece. You can serve beers, lagers and even ciders in Steins and give the festivities a true Bavarian flare.
3. Bratwurst
Well not just Bratwurst. Putting on a spread of Bavarian foods is a real crowd pleaser. But the star of the show is surely the Bratwurst. Succulent, pork sausage best served in a toasted roll on a bed of sauerkraut.
4. Leiderhosen
More of a commitment, but worth the hassle. Make it a fancy dress affair and really get into the spirit of Oktoberfest.
5. Live German Oompah Band
Oompah music is a term that encompasses several forms of horn-centric music played in Eastern European countries. Guaranteed to get your guests jigging and jiving, an authentic German Oompah Band is the golden ticket to an amazing Oktoberfest party.
6. Biergarten Tables
Biergarten tables are iconic. Long, thin picnic style tables with benches - they're a great way to get everyone intimate and socialising in no time. No wide tables for conversation to get lost over with groups separated. Everyone's at the same party with cosy, communal seating.
7. Decorations
When it comes to decorating your venue, more is more. The brighter and more out there the decorations, the quicker you'll get your guests in the mood. Some ideas include:
- Bunting
- Streamers
- Balloons
- Chequered table cloths
- Beer bottles vases with bright flowers
- Placemats
- Fake stag heads
8. Hammerschlagen
A Bavarian drinking game favourite, this is a game for smaller private parties that don't have to adhere to health and safety assessments...
The game is simple. You take it in turns to attempt to hit a nail into a wooden stump with the pointy side of a hammer. If you miss, you drink! For obvious reasons, we'd recommend kicking your party off with this game, rather than introducing it a few Steins in!

POP UP BAR HIRE - SUMMER EVENTS ROUND UP
Wow!!! Summer for Pop Up Bar Hire Co was such a wild and thrilling experience we’ve only just recovered! Because we had such a great time, we wanted to share some of the amazing events we were a part of with this summer events round up!
Tough Mudder
Tough Mudder, the brutal event any outdoor lover has heard of was one of our main gigs this summer and it sure didn’t disappoint. With courses up and down the length of Britain we travelled from the Hills of Yorkshire to the urban jungle of South London. Providing drinks to thirsty competitors and their supporting parties was such a thrill and might even have been more exhausting than the course itself!
We added a little touch of elegance to the final proceedings, serving fluted prosecco to victorious racers. Freedom Lager on draught was our best seller, with the competitors quenching a well-deserved pint at the end of their challenge. Another great drink option prized by all mudders, was our selection of The Canned Wine Co and The Uncommon, white and rose bubbly. These offerings sure went down a treat even with mud in every hole, crack and orifice!
We loved seeing the faces of every individual that defeated the challenging, wet and definitely muddy course and we can’t wait to be there again next year!
Film and Food Fest
Another exciting event the Pop Up Bar Hire Co team attended this summer was the outdoor Film and Food Fest hosted all across the country. We’re not sure there is a cup we haven’t filled, or a can we’ve left unopened. Travelling to 15 locations from Newcastle and Manchester down to Bournemouth to Cardiff we’ve done it all! With four days at each location watching films from Grease to Joker, we are now not only experts of the drinks trade; but are now true film buffs too!
Thanks for reading our summer events round up. We are thrilled with the positive feedback from all our happy customers and are so excited to continue providing our quality services this winter and into the new year! We hope to see you at one of our bars very soon!

EASY AT HOME COCKTAILS FOR THE 2021 SIX NATIONS
So it’s that time of year again… Spring is looming in the air and Welsh spirit is all around. However, one thing is missing this year, the pubs. Is it just us Welshies that absolutely love sitting in a pub surrounded by pints, screaming ‘GWLAD, GWLAD’ at the top of our lungs while wearing a jersey? As much as we’d all love to be spending our weekends this way, sadly Coronavirus has other plans.
The pubs may be out of the question this year, but this doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy ourselves! Why not have a ‘party’ within your household? Host a virtual cocktail night with some friends? With more online platforms being launched over the past year, it’s never been easier to get your pals together on a video call.
Now, of course not all of us are mixologists and cocktail connoisseurs, so we’ve popped together a list of easy, at-home cocktails with ingredients you probably already have in your alcohol cupboard. Oh… and we’ve kept it to a red theme keeping in with the spirit of Rugby yn Cymgraeg. Check out our top 5 easy, at home cocktails to celebrate the Welsh wins at the 2021 Six Nations below.
Red Dragon
30ml Gin | 30ml Grand Marnier | 25ml Orange Juice | 25ml Lemon Juice | 30ml Grenadine
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a slice of blood orange if you're feeling extra.
Strawberry Daiquiri
Now you'll need a blender for this one, but it'll be totally worth it.
500g Strawberries | 200g Ice | 100ml Rum | Juice 1/2 Lime
Add the strawberries to a blender, once smooth, push through a sieve to remove the seeds. Then blend again with the ice, rum and lime juice. Serve in a glass with an extra strawberry for garnish!
Raspberry Mojito
1/2 Lime | 40g Raspberries | 2 Mint Sprigs |2 tsp Sugar | 50ml Rum | Soda Water
Add the lime, raspberries, mint leaves and sugar to a glass and muddle together (use the end of a wooden spoon if you don't have a muddler at home!). Top with ice, pour in the rum and give it a good stir. Top with soda water and garnish with a mint spring!
Tip: A Pop Up Bar Hire Co. personal favourite rum for mojitos is Barti Spiced, it adds an extra little something to the taste... you can thank us later.
Cosmopolitan
The way to invisage yourself sipping cocktails in Manhattan with Carrie Bradshaw and the gang... when in reality you're probably sat on your sofa watching the Wales team throw around a rugby ball.
45ml Vodka | 15ml Cointreau | 30ml Cranberry Juice | 10ml Lime Juice
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, shake over ice and strain into a martini glass. Add a slice of orange peel to the glass for garnish. Voila!
(Cardiff) Bay of Passion
For this one, you'll need...
30ml Vodka | 30ml Passoa | 60ml Cranberry Juice | 60ml Fresh Grapefruit Juice
Shake it all together with some ice and strain into a glass, top with a mini Welsh flag for extra points.
